Alan Daniels

P4 Fastel

During a career working with several emergency lighting suppliers, Alan has worked with self-contained and central battery emergency lighting systems. Since the early 1980s Alan has been involved in the work of ICEL, serving on Technical Committees and on the ICEL Council.

He has served from time to time on both national and international standards committees developing various emergency lighting standards. Since 2006 Alan has worked as a director of specialist automatic testing emergency lighting company P4. Alan continues to serve on ICEL and BSI committees, is a UK emergency lighting technical expert for UKAS and also teaches emergency lighting

      What is stay-put lighting?

      Stay-put’ lighting is a new option within emergency lighting. The latest revisions to the Emergency Lighting Code of Practice (BS2566:1 2016) allows for a situation where building occupants can remain in the building during an electricity mains failure. Alan Daniels of P4 will look at the conditions that appertain to this new standard and what scheme designers and building users need to do to ensure that a ‘stay put’ scheme is compliant.
