Philip has over 30 years’ experience in the London Fire Brigade as a Station Officer and predominantly in an operational role & achieved Member status with The Institution of Fire Engineers. He attended the Fire Service College on numerous occasions including the16 week ‘long’ fire prevention course.
He became an Associate Fire Risk Assessor with the Building Research Establishment in 2007 and was actively involved supporting his local borough Fire Safety team with fire safety order issues during which he acquired recognition as an IFE Fire Risk Auditor. Philip worked on a wide range of local projects including COMAH off-site plans for the West London Oil Terminal, Heathrow Airport projects and a 4-acre timber framed flats construction site project ensuring compliance with CDM regs & the FSO.
In 2012 he retired from the LFB & established Hurtwood Fire Risk Management Ltd & details of his current and extensive client base can be seen at www.hurtwoodfire.co.uk Philip has completed numerous risk assessments in a range of occupancy types and buildings from flats, schools, theatres, offices, shops, hotels, marinas, night clubs, pubs in addition Hurtwood Fire provides FS training, management and fire strategy work for these clients.
He recently achieved accreditation with the Warrington Fire Risk Assessors Certification process (FRACS) and is on the Nationally Accredited Fire Risk Assessors Register (NAFRAR) and is currently going through the Institution of Fire Engineers fire risk assessors register accreditation.
