Professor John G. Anderson was born and educated in Glasgow, UK. He obtained his BSc and PhD degrees in applied microbiology from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, in 1968 and 1971, respectively. He was a member of the Department of Bioscience and Biotechnology, University of Strathclyde, from 1971, where he became a Professor of Microbiology, and the Head of Department.
He is currently an Emeritus Professor with the University of Strathclyde and co-director of The Robertson Trust Laboratory for Electronic Sterilisation Technologies (ROLEST) within the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering. His current research interests include various aspects of food, biomedical and environmental microbiology with particular focus on the development of novel optical and electrical technologies for disinfection and sterilisation applications.
